Charities

The holiday season is upon us, which means a number of us are in the giving mood. In the spirit of the season (and as a last push before a new tax year), we at SHANTIH Journal invite you to familiarize yourself (and perhaps donate to) these organizations, all of which promote peaceful action and humanitarian aid in a world of strife.

As per their website, the International Rescue Committee “helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and regain control of their future.” New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof calls the IRC “the gold standard of aid groups working with refugees. I’ve seen it in action in Darfur, Chad, Central African Republic, Greece, Jordan, South Sudan and other places.” Currently, the IRC is running an important campaign to help refugees seeking shelter from the violence in Aleppo.

logoCarry the Future is an international community of volunteers bringing humanitarian aid to families with children, providing material support such as baby beds, child carriers, and survival items.
